1992 (A/V, 2017) is tribute to the LA Riots because today marks the 25th Year since it happened. I was inspired by Kahlil Joseph’s “good kid m.AA d city” (2016) split screen installation I saw at The Strand.
The theme that I went for with this piece was to portray the severity of how communities can be destroyed – I slowed down the visuals because I wanted to emphasize the despair and I wanted to bridge the future and the past and reimagine the experience of these people and what they were going through.
1992 has been featured on the ICA front page and 302_Redirect online festival.
